The University Coalitions for Global Health (UCGH) is a coalition of international health-focused organizations and individuals with a university presence. Established in the fall of 2004, UCGH brings youth together to unite around common projects and events, multiplying their impact on global health issues.
At the National level…
At the national and international levels, UCGH brings together leaders from global health-focused, student-serving organizations to harmonize efforts and collaborate on events and projects. Current UCGH national member organizations (NMOs) include the American Medical Student Association (AMSA) and the Student Global AIDS Campaign (SGAC). UCGH has two working groups for NMOs: global health advocacy and professional development. These working groups provide the opportunity for national coordinators to synergize efforts on projects and campaigns.

On the Campus Level
UCGH facilitates and supports the work of coalitions to advance global health initiatives by bringing together campus organizations, students and faculty. These “campus coalitions” appoint a UCGH campus organizer(s) to be the contact person(s) for the UCGH National Coordinator based in Reston, Virginia. Past coalitions have focused on a variety of issues ranging from global health advocacy to establishing global health curriculum at their university. The campus coalitions tend to be very organic and reflect the interests of the students at the university.
