I am in agreement that we need a strong program to combat the spread of AIDS globally. However, I haven't seen ANY information on your site about the serious shortcoming of PEPFAR, its requirement that 33% of the funding be spent on abstinence-only-until-marriage programs. This provision of the bill significantly undermines its effectiveness. US abstinence-only policy has resulted in censored or distorted information about condoms, and denied young people information about any method of HIV prevention other than sexual abstinence until marriage. This approach is both dangerous and irresponsible. Please look closely at the PEPFAR requirements and make it a priority to educate your activists on the changes needed. Thank you for your hard work and efforts to protect the global community.
